How we collect, use, and protect your data — in plain language

Effective date: June 6, 2026  ·  Last updated: June 6, 2026  ·  Applies to omlyar.com
Short version: Omlyar does not sell your personal data. We do not require an account. The text you transliterate is sent to our AI provider to generate a result and is not stored. We use Google Analytics for anonymous traffic insights and Google AdSense to serve advertisements. You can opt out of personalized ads at any time.

1. Who We Are

Omlyar ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at omlyar.com, a free AI-powered tool that converts Latin/Arabizi text to proper Arabic script. For the purposes of EU data protection law (GDPR), Omlyar is the data controller for the personal data we collect.

Contact for privacy matters: [email protected]

2. Data We Collect

We collect the minimum data necessary to operate the service.

2.3 What We Do NOT Collect

  • No user accounts or registration data
  • No payment or financial information
  • No persistent device identifiers on our own servers
  • No history of your past transliterations
  • No cross-site tracking through our own systems

3. How We Use Your Data

We use data for the following purposes:

  • Providing the transliteration service: your text input is processed by our AI provider and the Arabic output is returned to you. This is the core function of the site.
  • Analytics and improvement: aggregate, anonymized data from Google Analytics helps us understand which features are used, what devices people visit from, and where usability can be improved.
  • Advertising: Google AdSense serves ads to help cover the infrastructure costs of running a free AI-powered service. See Section 5 for full details.
  • Abuse prevention: IP-based rate limiting prevents a small number of automated users from exhausting the daily AI budget and degrading the service for everyone.
  • Customer support: if you contact us, we use your name and email to respond.

Legal basis (GDPR): For analytics and advertising, our legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a)), which you give or decline via our cookie consent banner. For rate limiting and service delivery, our legal basis is legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)). For responding to contact form submissions, our legal basis is the performance of a contract / taking steps at your request (Article 6(1)(b)).

4. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4, tracking ID: G-JCL4BQMWRJ) to collect anonymized data about how visitors interact with Omlyar. This includes pages visited, session duration, device type, browser, and approximate country — but not individual identifiers.

Google Analytics uses cookies (see Section 7) to distinguish users across sessions. We have enabled IP anonymization so full IP addresses are not stored by Google. We do not share personally identifiable information with Google Analytics.

You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Google's full privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.

5. Google AdSense & Advertising

Advertising disclosure: Omlyar uses Google AdSense (Publisher ID: ca-pub-2055181285305200) to display advertisements. Google AdSense may serve personalized ads based on your browsing history and interests, or non-personalized ads if you have not consented to personalized advertising. Ads help us cover the real infrastructure costs of providing a free AI-powered service.

Here is what that means for your data:

  • Google may use cookies (such as the DART cookie via doubleclick.net) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
  • Interest-based advertising: if you consent to personalized ads, Google may build an interest profile based on your browsing activity to show you more relevant advertisements.
  • Non-personalized ads: if you decline personalized advertising (or have not consented), AdSense will still show ads, but they will be contextually targeted (based on the page content) rather than behaviorally targeted.
  • Ad measurement: Google uses data from ad impressions and clicks to measure ad performance. We receive aggregate reporting only — we cannot identify individual users from this data.

How to opt out of personalized ads:

For full details on how Google uses data when you interact with AdSense, see Google's Advertising Privacy page.

6. AI Processing — Anthropic

The transliteration feature sends your text input to Anthropic (the maker of the Claude AI model) via their API. The text is processed to generate an Arabic-script response, which is returned to you. Anthropic's systems handle this request; we do not store the input text on our servers after the response is returned.

Anthropic has its own privacy policy and data processing practices, which govern how they handle API requests. We encourage you to review Anthropic's Privacy Policy. Under their current API usage policies, data submitted through the API is not used to train their models by default.

Important: do not send sensitive personal information (passwords, financial data, health information, government ID numbers) through the transliteration tool. The tool is designed for transliterating everyday Arabic text, not for handling confidential data.

7. Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored in your browser. Here is a breakdown of the cookies that may be set when you use Omlyar:

Cookie NameSet ByPurposeExpiry
_ga Google Analytics Distinguishes unique users for traffic analytics 2 years
_gid Google Analytics Distinguishes users across sessions 24 hours
_ga_JCL4BQMWRJ Google Analytics Maintains GA4 session state for property G-JCL4BQMWRJ 2 years
IDE Google AdSense (doubleclick.net) Used for ad targeting and measuring ad effectiveness ~1.5 years
__gads / __gpi Google AdSense Stores ad settings and helps prevent repeated ad display ~13 months
cookieConsent (localStorage) Omlyar Records your cookie consent decision (accepted/declined) Until you clear browser storage

Managing cookies: You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking analytics or advertising cookies will not prevent you from using the transliteration tool — it is fully functional without them. Note that disabling cookies globally may affect other websites you visit.

Our consent banner (visible at the bottom of each page on first visit) lets you accept or decline tracking cookies before they are set.

8. Other Third-Party Services

Ko-fi: If you choose to support Omlyar via Ko-fi, you are redirected to ko-fi.com — an independent platform. Ko-fi handles all payment processing under their own privacy policy. We do not receive your payment details.

Netlify: Omlyar is hosted on Netlify, which processes web requests and may collect server log data (IP addresses, request headers, timestamps) for security and performance purposes. See Netlify's Privacy Policy.

Affiliate links: Some pages on Omlyar may contain links to third-party services (Arabic learning platforms, etc.). If you click an affiliate link, the destination site may set its own cookies and track your visit. We are not responsible for the data practices of linked third parties. Affiliate links are marked accordingly.

Google Fonts: We load fonts from Google Fonts CDN. Google may collect the requesting IP address as part of serving font files. See Google Fonts Privacy FAQ.

Cloudflare Turnstile: To protect this service against automated abuse, we use Cloudflare Turnstile — an invisible bot-detection widget. When you use the transliteration tool, Turnstile runs silently in your browser to confirm you are a real user. It does not display a visual CAPTCHA challenge under normal circumstances. Turnstile may collect your IP address, browser attributes, and behavioural signals to distinguish human visitors from automated scripts. This processing is carried out by Cloudflare, Inc. under their own privacy policy. By using the transliteration tool you acknowledge this processing. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy and the Cloudflare Turnstile Privacy Addendum.

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or other jurisdictions with data protection laws, you have the following rights:

Lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days. Note that because we collect very little personal data, most requests can be resolved quickly — and in many cases, there is simply no data to provide, restrict, or delete.

These transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards — specifically, standard contractual clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission — as required by GDPR Article 46.

By using Omlyar, you acknowledge that your data may be transferred to, and processed in, countries outside your jurisdiction, including countries that may not offer the same level of data protection as your home country.

12. Children's Privacy

Omlyar is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that a child under 13 has submitted personal data through the contact form, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact [email protected].
